Hilltop Camp

We broke up our safari adventure at Hilltop Camp. It was the perfect spot to stretch our legs and have a wonderful lunch. We even met some American tourists there -- from Virginia!

Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park

On Sunday, we spent the day at the Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park. This former Zulu Royal hunting ground is Africa's oldest established wilderness area. We drove around the park from practically sun up to sun down, and never tired of the beautiful scenery and animal sightings. The boys did great in the car as well! We saw water buffalo, elephant, black and white rhino, zebra, impala, nyala, wart hog, and many species of birds.

St. Lucia Wetlands Park

On Saturday, we began our weekend travelling adventure with a trip to the St. Lucia Wetlands Park along the northeastern coast of South Africa, also known as the Elephant Coast. It was amazing to see miles and miles of beautiful, undeveloped coastline. It's also supposed to be a great area for snorkeling, scuba diving, whale and bird watching. We enjoyed a trip to the Crocodile Center, also in the park.

Crawford's "Wild West" party

Friday night we took the boys to a "Wild West" themed party at their preschool, Crawford. The kids dressed up like cowboys and Indians, did some country western dancing, rode horses and had lots of fun. It was fun for the parents too -- made me feel like I was back in Texas for a bit!

Home Invasion

On Friday I came home to find a monkey sitting on the kitchen counter with a bag of fruit chews in hand and some empty banana peels close by. He was caught redhanded, but made a quick getaway to our roof where his friends were waiting.

A Day at the Dam

Today we met some friends for a picnic at a small dam (a.k.a lake) in a southern suburb of Durban called Amanzimtoti. The cute little blonde boy is Casey. Not to worry ... the boat was docked, and the boys were well supervised!

Durban Botanical Gardens

Today we visited the Durban Botanical Gardens. It's hard to believe this beautiful, tranquil and spacious garden is in the middle of a big, bustling city.

Early Mother's Day Celebration

Today we enjoyed an early Mother's Day celebration at the boys' preschool. There were many different stations set up around the courtyard for Moms and kids to work on craft projects together, including flower arranging. These are the end results of those projects. We ended the day with a picnic. We would like to wish an early "Happy Mother's Day" to Allie and Grandma as well!
